UEA: The MSc in global public health will prepare health professionals for public health challenges through evidence-based policy and practice.

NEW DELHI: The University of East Anglia United Kingdom (UK) has announced a new MSc in global public health programme for the September 2025 intake. The full-time programme aims to prepare public health professionals to address global public health challenges through evidence-based policy and interdisciplinary practice.
The MSc in global public health programme is for graduate students who are interested in global health outcomes worldwide. The programme is located in the faculty of medicine and health sciences, which is a blend of public health principles and practice, with insights from international development and environmental science.
“Students will dive deep into global public health case studies, apply cutting-edge research, and explore key themes such as health equity, migration, and the impact of climate change on public health,” the UEA statement said.

According to the UEA statement, the curriculum replaces the standard dissertation with an extended project that focuses on applied learning and elevates students’ employability. The structured programme allows students to tackle complex health challenges with practical skills vital for careers in global health policy and practice.
With multiple options available for students, they can tailor their studies to professional goals in public health agencies, international NGOs, global research institutes, or advisory roles within the government.
“Alongside academics and professionals from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, students will also benefit from access to UEA’s world-class research centres, including the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and the Norwich Institute for Sustainable Development. These institutions will provide rich opportunities to engage in pioneering research and contribute to impactful global health solutions,” the UEA statement said.
While speaking on the launch of the new MSc programme, the dean of health sciences UEA said: “Public health plays a crucial role in tackling some of the most pressing challenges that the world is facing today. At UEA, we’re dedicated to equipping the next generation of global health leaders with the tools they need through a blend of interdisciplinary education, hands-on experience, and cutting-edge research. This MSc programme is crafted to ensure that our graduates possess the skills, confidence, and critical thinking necessary to drive improvements in public health on a global level.”
