University of Strathclyde introduces new MSc in statistics, data science programme

University of Strathclyde: The MSc in statistics and data science programme will begin in September 2025.
NEW DELHI : The University of Strathclyde has launched a new MSc in statistics and data science programme. The MSc programme is designed for students to equip them with necessary skills to pursue careers in the expanding fields of data science and applied statistics.
MSc in statistics and data science will begin in September 2025. The course is an optimal choice for students to gain skills in data analysis, machine learning, big data processing, predictive modelling, and use of statistical software such as R and Python.
According to the University of Strathclyde statement, interested applicants can know more about the course by attending a webinar on May 6 at 14:00 BST. The webinar will include details about the programme and students will also have the opportunity to ask the admissions team questions during the Q&A sessions.
“The new course provides students with comprehensive training to work across a variety of sectors, including health, insurance, finance, and commerce. Upon completion, students will be equipped to navigate the challenges of modern data-driven environments and contribute to solving real-world problems,” the University of Strathclyde statement said.

According to the University’s statement, the programme is designed for students to allow developing advanced skills in statistics and data science without requiring prior background knowledge. Students will get to learn about processing and analysing complex data, using statistical programming for data analysis, machine learning, and predictive modelling, etc.
To apply for the progamme, candidates must hold a minimum second-class (2:2) honours degree to apply for the programme. The fee for international students is £25,500 for the academic year 2025-26.
Kim Kavanagh the postgraduate director for MSc in statistics and data science said: “This programme allows students to gain valuable analytical and programming skills in a short time frame. The accelerated nature of this programme means that graduates will be very attractive to industry due to their experience in the programming, modelling and visualisation skills required in the data science field."
“Graduates of the MSc in statistics and data science will be ready to take on roles as data scientists and applied statisticians, working in sectors that rely on advanced analytics and data interpretation,” the University of Strathclyde statement adds.
