The Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee has commenced the TN National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG counselling 2026 round 2 registration for admission to MBBS and BDS degree courses for the 2026-27 academic session. Candidates can register and complete payment, if required, until September 8 at 5 pm.

For the general counselling, candidates with General Rank (GR) from 1 to 35,926 under the government quota (GQ) and 1 to 26,956 under the management quota (MQ) are eligible to participate. The corresponding NEET marks range is 705 to 177 for GQ and 693 to 177 for MQ.

Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 2: Key dates

Candidates can complete choice filling and locking from September 9 at 2 pm to September 13 at 2 pm. The virtual vacancy processing will begin on September 9, followed by seat allotment processing on September 14. Check the complete schedule below

TN NEET UG Counselling 2026: Round 2 registration rules

Candidates who registered for round 1 but did not receive a seat do not need to register again. Similarly, candidates who were allotted a seat in round 1 but did not join are not required to register again.

  • Candidates who joined a Round 1 seat and selected upgradation through the college portal also do not need to register again. Their seats will be treated as virtual vacancies for round 2.
  • However, candidates who joined a seat and selected “NO” for upgradation during the admission process but now want to participate in upgradation must log in during the round 2 TN NEET registration window and confirm their participation. If they do not do so, they will not be considered for upgradation.
  • Candidates who did not register during round 1 can make a fresh TN NEET UG counselling registration in round 2, provided they had already applied to the Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee and their names appear in the published TN NEET merit list.
  • Candidates who are satisfied with their allotted college and do not want a change need not participate in Round 2.
  • Those who had opted for upgradation earlier but now want to retain their existing seat also do not need to participate in choice filling. Their seats will be retained automatically.

Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026: 7.5% government school quota

A separate Round 2 process has been announced for the 7.5% special reservation for Tamil Nadu government school students. For this category, candidates with a general rank from 1 to 3,625 can participate. The NEET marks range mentioned in the schedule is 599 to 177.

  • Candidates under the 7.5% quota who did not receive a seat in Round 1 will have to register for Round 2.
  • Those who joined a seat and opted for upgradation through the college portal do not need to register again, as their seats will be considered virtual vacancies.
  • Candidates who had selected “NO” for upgradation but now want an upgraded seat must log in during the registration window and confirm their participation.
  • Candidates who want to retain their existing seats do not need to participate in Round 2.
  • Those who had opted for upgradation but now wish to retain their current seat also do not need to participate in choice filling, as their seats will be retained automatically.

No processing fee, security deposit or tuition fee will be applicable to candidates admitted under the 7.5% special reservation for Tamil Nadu government school students. Candidates can check the TN NEET UG registration rules for this category below.
