National Teachers’ Day 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated teachers and remembered Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

NEW DELHI: On the occasion of National Teachers’ Day 2024, prime minister Narendra Modi extended congratulations and wishes to the teachers across the country through an online message. PM Modi paid respect to India’s second president Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, discussed and appreciated the role of teachers, and expressed joy on India’s growth.
Teachers’ day is celebrated every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Radhakrishnan who played an important role in education and to honour the teachers across the country for their contributions.
“Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the teachers across the country on the auspicious occasion of Teacher's Day. We pay our respects to former President of India and great educationist Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary, remembering whom we have a unique tradition of honoring our Gurus,” said PM Modi in the message.
The current PM of India finds the role of teachers very important in shaping the lives of students as they provide them knowledge and guidance. Teachers inspire students to dream and become the source of their courage to fulfill those dreams. Along with the personal development of students, the role of teachers is also significant in preparing them as responsible and capable citizens of the country, he said.

Expressing joy while calling India a center of knowledge, PMO said, “The country is rapidly moving towards education reforms with the support of students and teachers. In this path of development, the hands of teachers are being strengthened through all resources. I am happy that today India is emerging as an excellent center of knowledge across the world due to the combination of traditional knowledge and modern education system.”
Further reflecting upon his mission and vision, Narendra Modi iterated, “We have resolved to build a self-reliant and developed India by 2047, the centenary of independence. Today students are studying in schools and colleges. Only their efforts will give a new direction to the country in the coming years. By enriching the lives of this future generation with their knowledge, our teachers are making their valuable contribution in nation building.”
