Telangana schools closed tomorrow; holiday announced for Ganesh Idol immersion

The Telangana government has declared September 25 as a holiday for government offices, schools and colleges located in and around the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and adjoining areas of Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. Schools and colleges will remain closed for Ganesh idol immersion procession scheduled to take place in the region.

An official order regarding the same was issued by the General Administration (Special) Department through Government Order.

According to the notification, government offices, schools and colleges located in and around Hyderabad and Secunderabad, as well as the adjoining Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts will observe holiday on September 25 and will remain functioning on November 14 to cover up the number of working days. Therefore, November 14, 2026, which falls on the second Saturday, will be observed as a working day for government offices, schools, and colleges in the specified areas.

The notification was issued by Sanjay Jaju, Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, by order and in the name of the Governor of Telangana.

Ganesh idol immersion procession

The holiday announcement comes ahead of the Ganesh idol immersion procession in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Government offices, schools and colleges falling within the areas specified in the notification will remain closed Friday.

The holiday has been declared to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Ganesh idol immersion procession and help ease traffic congestion in Hyderabad, Secunderabad and the adjoining areas. With a large number of devotees expected to participate in the procession, the move is aimed at reducing vehicular movement and ensuring smoother traffic management and public movement across the affected areas.
