NEW DELHI: Following reports of alleged corruption in the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) exams, Devendra Fadnavis, leader of opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has asked for a CBI inquiry.

“After Tukaram Supe, chief of Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) was found with Rs 88 lakh in the TET exam scam case, an additional Rs 2 crore and gold were found today,” Fadnavis said in his Twitter post.

According to a Times of India report, Pune police had arrested Supe regarding the TET 2020 paper leak case.

Fadnavis accused Supe of giving the exam to GA software technology, which was allegedly involved in the controversy in the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) exam scam.

He further alleged that police recruitment cards have also been found in the possession of Pritish Deshmukh, an accused in the MHADA exam scam. This connects the scams in the health recruitment exam, MHADA, TET, police recruitment. Given the complexities of all these scams, Fadnavis suggests a CBI inquiry

“I urge the Chief Minister to hand over the case to the CBI if the real culprits who have wronged millions of students have to be caught and punished”, said Fadnavis‍

Varsha Eknath Gaikwad, the school education minister had promised legal action against anyone found guilty. She had discussed the legal measures to be followed regarding the alleged corruption in the TET examination and said that a committee has been formed under Vandana Krishnaji, Additional Chief Secretary of the School Education Department. This committee now has the responsibility for investigating and submitting a report.
