DoTE Chennai extends TNEA registration 2026 deadline till June 5

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) Chennai has extended the registration deadline for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 till June 5. Candidates seeking admission to BTech courses at government and government-aided colleges across Tamil Nadu can register for TNEA 2026 on the official website, tneaonline.org and dte.tn.gov.in.

As per the DoTE notice, the TNEA counselling dates 2026 will be announced after approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

TNEA is a complete online process that includes registration, fee payment, choice filling, allotment, and confirmation of seats.

For TNEA 2026 registration, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) are required to pay a registration fee of Rs 250, whereas Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates must pay Rs 500 as the registration fee.

Till now, 2,81,502 students have registered for TNEA 2026, of whom 2,17,627 have completed the fee payment process, while 1,84,053 have completed the certificate uploading process.

TNEA Admission 2026: Tuition fee waiver

Notably, the TN government will bear the expenses of students opting for professional course admission under the 7.5% reservation criterion for government school students. The expenses for tuition fees, hostel and development would be paid by the government. Students will have to submit proof of the government school they studied in and details from Class 6 to 12 to avail the tuition fee concession.

Last year, more than 400 colleges took part in the TNEA counselling process, offering a total of 2,54,585 engineering seats. More than two lakh engineering seats are available across over 400 colleges affiliated with Anna University in Tamil Nadu for BTech admissions.
