TNPSC Group 2 notification 2026 out; 821 vacancies, apply by September 9

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has published the Group 2 and Group 2A notification 2026 for direct recruitment to 821 vacancies under the Combined Civil Services Examination II. Along with the notification, the TNPSC Group 2 application form link has also been activated. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online until September 9, 2026, by 11:59 pm at tnpsc.gov.in.

TNPSC Group 2 Notification 2026: Important dates

The TNPSC Group 2 preliminary examination 2026 will be conducted on November 1, 2026, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The date of the main examination will be announced later along with the preliminary exam results.

TNPSC Group 2 vacancy 2026

Of the 821 total vacancies, 41 are for Group 2 services, including posts such as assistant inspector, deputy commercial tax officer, junior employment officer, probation officer, sub-registrar grade 2, jailer, special assistant, special branch assistant and assistant section officer.

While 780 vacancies are for Group 2A services, which include posts such as assistant, accountant, senior inspector, executive officer, junior accountant, male warden, handloom inspector and lower division (counter) clerk.

TNPSC Group 2 application process 2026

Candidates must apply online through the TNPSC website after completing One Time Registration (OTR). The OTR fee is Rs 150 and is valid for five years. Aadhaar linking, a valid email ID and a mobile number are mandatory. Candidates should verify all details before clicking ‘Submit’.

• Visit the official TNPSC application portal and click ‘Apply Now’
• Complete One Time Registration (OTR) using your personal, educational and other required details.
• Log in using the OTR User ID and password.
• Select TNPSC Group 2 and Group 2A 2026 and fill in the application form.
• Upload the required photograph, signature and supporting documents in the prescribed format.
• Select the preferred examination centres and enter the other required details.
• Pay the applicable examination fee.
• Preview the application and check all details carefully.
• Click ‘Submit’ to complete the application and save/download the confirmation for future reference.

The preliminary exam fee is Rs 100. Candidates shortlisted for the main exam are required to pay Rs 150, while those appearing for both Group 2 and Group 2A mains have to pay Rs 300, unless exempted.
