Private engineering colleges in India are gaining prominence. A total of 17 private engineering colleges secured a rank in the top 50, and 37 made it in the top 100 of NIRF rankings, indicating the growing standards in education, infrastructure, and placements. VIT Vellore, SRM University Chennai, and BITS Pilani are the three best private engineering colleges in India.
While some private engineering colleges offer admissions to BTech courses based on Joint Entrance Examination - Main or Advanced (JEE Mains or JEE Adv 2025), others conduct their own entrance exam. Some also consider JEE scores during the state-level BTech counselling.
The JEE Main, Advanced, and engineering entrance exam results have been declared and the counselling process is underway. VIT Vellore - Vellore Institute of Technology, ranked number 11 in the NIRF ranking, offers admission to its BTech programmes based on the scores obtained in VITEEE 2025 engineering entrance exam. The VITEEE results 2025 are already out and the counselling process is underway.
Phase 4 of the VITEEE counselling is ongoing and the phase 5 for candidates with rank above 1 lakh will be conducted from June 17. As per the selection process, candidates with rank up to 1 lakh are eligible for counselling to all the four campuses – VIT-Vellore, VIT-Chennai, VIT-AP, and VIT-Bhopal. Rank holders up to 1.5 lakh are eligible for counselling to VIT-AP and VIT-Bhopal campuses and above 1.5 lakh will only be considered for VIT-AP campus.

SRM University Chennai - SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, ranked 13th under engineering category, admits students to its BTech courses based on its own entrance examination - SRMJEEE 2025. The university has announced that it will conduct the BTech admissions in three phases. Phase 2 exams 2025 will be held from June 12 to 17 and phase 3 from July 4 and 5. SRMJEEE phase 2 slot bookings have started on the official website, srmist.edu.in.
Over 5,700 job offers have been made and more than 1,100 companies took part in the SRM placement drive for BTech students. The top recruiters include Code Nation, Wells Fargo, Adobe, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Microsoft, MAXLINEAR, Amazon, SquadCast, Western Digital, HYPERVERGE, Richpanel, ARISTA, Google, Autodesk
As per the available data, the fee for BTech courses at SRM university for BTech courses have been fixed between nearly Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4 lakh.
BITS Pilani - Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani also conducts its own entrance exam. This year, there will be two sessions - session 1 was conducted from May 26 to 30 and session 2 will be held from June 22 to 26.

Students enrolled in the first-year will be given an opportunity to apply for a few selected 2+2 joint collaborative programmes offered by BITS Pilani and a few reputed international universities in Australia and USA like RMIT University, Melbourne; Iowa State University, Ames, USA; University at Buffalo, New York, USA; Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York, USA; Centrale Superlac Paris, France.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore - Amrita university conducts Amrita Entrance Examination Engineering (AEEE 2025) for admission to BTech programmes offered at Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh; Amritapuri, Kerala; Bengaluru; Chennai; Coimbatore; and Faridabad.
Amrita was ranked 23 in the NIRF rankings 2024 under the engineering category. The regular fees for non-scholarship category ranges from Rs 4,50,000 (4.5 lakh) to Rs 6 lakh across campuses.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar - The engineering college administered the Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Admission Test (SAAT) for BTech admissions. Additionally, it also offers admission to JEE Main qualified candidates.
The tuition fee for BTech varies for different programmes. Candidates opting for civil engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering will have to pay Rs 1,17,500 per semester.
Those opting for electronics engineering will have to pay Rs 1,32,500, while for core computer science courses, the regular fee has been fixed at Rs 1,47,500. It also offers courses in emerging areas in computing - CSE with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), cyber security, data science, and Internet of Things (IoT). For these four courses, the tuition fee per semester is Rs 1,57,500.
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala - The institute secured rank 29 in NIRF under engineering category and university category. Overall, it was placed at 43rd position.
The total tuition fee for BTech courses is Rs 22,68,000 (22.68 lakh) and students will have to pay Rs 2,83,500 per semester. Admission to BTech courses will be through JEE Main merit list. The counselling process is underway for the academic year 2025-26.

Chandigarh University, Chandigarh - Candidates will be eligible for admission into Chandigarh University after clearing the CUCET exam. Based on the CUCET result, shortlisted candidates will be able to apply for admission and avail merit-based scholarship.
Ranked 32 in NIRF engineering ranking, the institute received the highest international salary package of Rs 1.7 crore. The highest domestic salary offered for CU graduates was Rs 54.75 lakh per annum, as per the placements data.
The last date to submit an application form through the official website, cucet.cuchd.in, is June 20. The tuition fee for most BTech courses is over Rs 1 lakh.
KL University Guntur - Candidates seeking admission in Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation, Guntur, ranked 35, should have a valid score in either KLEEE (BTech) or KLECET (B.Tech Lateral Entry). The tuition fee ranges between Rs 2.4 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.
As per the KL University placement data, the highest package was Rs 60 lakh per annum and the average package was around Rs 7.8 lakh per annum. The institute has partnered with over 350 companies to ensure that the students get placed upon completion of course. The top recruiters include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Walmart, Oracle, Infosys, AMDA, Cognizant, IBM, JP Morgan, and Deloitte.
Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, Virudhunagar (Rank 36) - Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the marks scored in KUEE or JEE Mains 2025.
The top BTech courses for Class 12 students are BTech Agricultural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Electronic and Communication Engineering (ECE), BTech Lateral Entry, BTech and Lateral Entry, BTech (NIOS), BTech SHIP.
