Two-day long litfest concludes at Shoolini University on Saturday

NEW DELHI: The third edition of the cultural festival, titled litfest, was hosted by Shoolini University in Solan on Friday, which concluded on Saturday, a statement from the university said. Various luminaries from the world of art and culture were present in the two-day long festival, where discussions on several books and a number of cultural activities were organised, informed the press release issued by the university.

The festival began on Friday, where professors of the university held discussions on various books. Professor Tej Nath Dhar led the session titled ‘The World Needs Stories’, which was centred on the English author Ruskin Bond. In the session, Professor Dhar said that Bond has advised the young writers not to feel discouraged by rejections from publishers, but to keep working hard to emerge successful. He also advised everyone to read more to write better.

Another professor Navneet Sahl’s book titled Trickster or Hero: A cross-cultural analysis of the Picaro, was also released on the occasion. Army person General Raj Mehta was also present in the session, who, in his address, spoke on the importance of law and literature in everyday life. The end of the first day of the litfest saw a musical evening at the Open-air theatre of the university, featuring the Benam artist band, which left everyone enthralled, the statement in the press release read.

Saturday, the concluding day of the litfest, began with the session led by Chitra Divakaruni, who shed light on her writings with a feminist perspective. This was followed by another session named ‘The Love of reading, moderated by Shoolini university Vice-chancellor Atul Khosla. Alongside him, Colonel Vivek Prakash Singh and Suhail Mathur were also present, who apprised everyone of the importance of reading books and promoting the practice.

Following this, various classical music concerts were held, the university officials said. Discussions on poetry and literature were conducted after this, among which, the most noteworthy one was the Echoes of the Soul, moderated by Professor Ashoo Khosla.

“Basantotsav”, a classical musical festival, marked the end of the litfest. Saroj Khosla bid the vote of thanks to all.
