UGC asks universities to organise programmes, live streaming of India's Techade-Chips Initiative

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has urged higher education institutions to host programmes dedicated to India's Techade-Chips initiative. UGC has requested that institutions submit reports outlining their event activities, and the number of participants.

The UGC notice read “India's Techade signifies India's dedication to embracing the digital age to ensure sustainable development, create new job opportunities, enhance quality of life, and establish a strong presence in the global technology landscape. “

Setting up three semiconductor facilities

The Prime Minister will lay the groundwork for three semiconductor facilities during the event: TEPL in Dholera, Gujarat; TEPL OSAT in Morigaon, Assam; and CG Power OSAT in Sanand, Gujarat.

Live streaming in universities

The UGC has emphasised the importance of student involvement, urging institutions to encourage active participation of students, particularly those in STEM and technical fields. Universities are urged to begin their programmes at 9:30 am on March 13, 2024, and do a live streaming of the prime minister's address at 10:30 am on YouTube.

Furthermore, colleges have been asked to notify students about the event and encourage them to participate.” The posters related to the event are attached. It is requested to disseminate the information about the programme among the students and encourage them to participate in the event leading to the vision of Viksit Bharat, ’’ read the UGC notice.

The UGC has published the standard operating procedure (SoP) for organisation the programmes, which include minute-by-minute preparation, venue identification, stakeholder participation, and post-event reporting.
