UGC NET 2021 June Cycle - Know the changes in age criteria

The National Testing Agency has issued a notice in which they have announced a change in the age limit for ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ and have also stated that it is applicable only for the June, 2021 UGC-NET cycle.
NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) notification and application form 2021 today. In the June 2021 session, NTA has also released a separate notice related to the age limit for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) as well. As per the UGC NET official notification , the upper age limit for candidates applying for JRF must be 31 years as on 01.10.2021 (October 1, 2021). This age limit is only for the current examination session.
There is however, upper age relaxation of upto 5 years for those candidates belonging to OBC-NCL (as per the Central list of OBC available) categories along with candidates from SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories and to women applicants applying for JRF. The upper age relaxation is also provided to candidates with research experience, limited to the period spent on research in related subjects of post graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years. However, for candidates applying for Assistant Professor there is no upper age limit in applying for UGC NET for Assistant Professor.

The UGC NET December 2020 as well as the June 2021 exam will be conducted in computer based online mode together from October 6 to 11, 2021. The UGC NET exam will be conducted in two shifts 9 am to 12 pm and 3 om to 6 pm. All the candidates who would appear for the UGC NET entrance exam will have to follow the COVID 19 protocol at the examination centres. Every year approximately 10 lakh students appear for the UGC NET 2021 exam which is held for various subjects.

The long awaited application form of the UGC NET June 2021 session is released on the official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. UGC is expected to release the NET admit card for both December 2020 and June 2021 together in the third week of September 2021.
