NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has concluded the University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC NET 2024) for the June session today, June 18. The NTA UGC NET exam was conducted in two shifts - shift 1 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and shift 2 from 3 pm to 6 pm. The test was held as OMR-based in offline mode for the first time.
The UGC NET exam 2024 will be held for 83 subjects across 541 exam centres. Unlike last session, candidates will be appearing in an OMR-based test in offline mode.
UGC NET 2024 exam consisted of two papers. Paper 1 included 50 questions, each carrying two marks, for a total of 100 marks. This paper evaluates candidates on teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. Paper 2 comprised 100 questions, each carrying two marks worth 200 marks.
UGC NET June 2024 exam analysis
The UGC NET 2024 exam analysis for the June session exam will be released soon. An assistant professor rated the exam as simple and said that school-level questions were asked in the second paper. Meanwhile, various candidates complained of far-off centres, mismanagement, carbon copy less OMR sheets in the exam.
The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year to determine the eligibility of candidates for recruitment of assistant professors in Indian universities and colleges and for awarding of the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Starting from this year, UGC has also allowed the universities to admit students to their PhD programmes based on NET scores.
