UGC NET June 2024 postponed to June 18; to be held in offline OMR-based mode
UGC NET June 2024 was scheduled to be held in CBT mode on June 16. The NTA will soon issue the formal notification.

NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed UGC-NET 2024 from June 16 to June 18. It has also decided to hold the exam in OMR-mode instead of CBT-mode. The registration process for the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) 2024 is underway. Eligible candidates can apply for the exam on the official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in, till May 10.
UGC chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar made the announcement on his official X account, previously known as Twitter. “The National Testing Agency and UGC have decided to shift the UGC-NET from June 16 (Sunday) to June 18 (Tuesday) because of feedback received from candidates. NTA will soon issue a formal notification,” he said.
Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar added that NTA will conduct UGC-NET 2024 in OMR mode across India on a single day. The UGC-NET 2024 will consist of two papers. Both the papers will have multiple choice questions (MCQs). There will be no break between papers. The paper 1 will have 50 MCQs of 100 marks. The questions in paper I will assess the teaching or research aptitude of the candidate.
It is primarily designed to test reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the applicants. The Paper 2 will have 100 questions of 2 marks. The questions will be based on the subject selected by the candidate and will assess domain knowledge.

Students can apply for UGC NET 2024 by following these steps:
- Go to the UGC NET official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in
- Click on “Application for UGC NET June 2024”
- A new tab will appear for UGC NET registration or login
- Complete the NET registration by providing your basic information.
- Next, fill the UGC NET application form 2024
- Upload the required documents as per the format and size.
- Submit the application fee
- Save the UGC NET application fee receipt for future reference
- Download the confirmation page of UGC NET 2024 application form for future reference.
