UGC NET 2026 registration begins; exams from June 22 to 30, statistics added as new subject

UGC NET 2026: Candidates can apply for the June exams on ugcnet.nta.nic.in, by May 20. Announcement of exam city and issuance of admit card by June 10 and 15, respectively
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started accepting online applications for University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2026 exams. UGC has added the statistics as a new subject to its list, expanding the total number of subjects from 85 to 86.

NTA will hold UGC NET 2026 exams from June 22 to 30 across the country for 86 subjects.
Candidates can apply for the UGC NET June 2026 exams in online mode on the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Application form in any other mode will not be accepted.
The UGC NET 2026 June application fee for the general category is Rs 1,150, while general EWS and OBC-NCL applicants have to pay Rs 600. Other candidates will have to pay Rs 325 as the UGC NET June application fee 2026.

Last year, for the UGC NET 2025 December exams , more than 1.76 candidates qualified for the JRF and PhD admissions. Over 7 lakh students appeared for the UGC-NET December exams.
UGC NET June 2026: New subject
As per the official UGC notice, the new subject has been added to the list of subjects based on the expert committee's recommendations, in its 597th meeting held on April 18. Candidates can find the syllabus for the newly-added subject on the official website, ugcnetonline.in.
NTA conducts UGC NET 2026 exams twice a year in June and December for junior research fellowship and assistant professor positions, and also determines eligibility for admission to PhD programmes in Indian universities and colleges.
