As per the UGC NET 2024 passing criteria, candidates from OBC category are required to score 35% to qualify the exam.

The record of UGC NET December 2024 will be preserved for 90 days from the date of declaration of result.

UGC NET cut-offs 2024 for philosophy subject of previous sessions are as follows.

The UGC NET reservation policy is given below: 

• 15% for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.
• 10% of the seats for General-Economically Weaker Sections (General- EWS) candidates
• 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
• 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer (NCL)

The UGC NET 2024 probable score can be calculated using the following steps.

A good score in UGC NET depends on the exam's cutoff trends, category-wise qualifying marks, and whether you aim for Assistant Professor (AP) eligibility or the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). A 200+ score in UGC NET can be considered good for JRF.

The full form of JRF is Junior Research Fellowship. The UGC NET exam is conducted to determine the eligibility for Assistant Professor and JRF posts in Indian colleges.

NTA has not yet announced the UGC NET result date for December 2024 session. However, as per the previous year trends, the agency will publish the result in the last week of February or first week of March.

A total of 8,49,166 candidates registered for the UGC NET December session exam, while 6,49,490 appeared for it.

Candidates will have to enter their application number and password to log in and download the UGC NET 2024 scorecard for December session exam.

NTA has not announced the UGC NET 2024 result date for the December session exam. Candidates will be able to check their results at ugcnet.nta.ac.in, once out.

Candidates who appeared for the UGC NET 2024 December session exam can check their UGC NET results on the official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has not yet announced the result date. However, based on past year's trends, the result is expected to be announced in the last week of February or the first week of March.

NTA will declare the UGC NET 2024 subject-wise cutoff based on the following factors: 

• Number of candidates who appeared for the exam
• Difficulty level of the UGC NET question paper
• Previous year's UGC NET cut-off trends

The UGC NET 2024 paper 1 assesses the teaching and research ability of the candidate. The paper 1 syllabus evaluates candidates’ cognitive abilities, general awareness about teaching and learning processes in the higher education system, and interaction between people, and the environment. The UGC NET paper 2 focuses on subject of the candidate's choice. The paper measures the in-depth knowledge and expertise of the candidate in the respective subject. 

Candidates from the unreserved (UR) or general category must secure at least 40% in both papers to qualify for the UGC NET December 2025 exam.

Candidates can check the validity of the UGC NET certificate as follows:

• Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): The certificate is valid for three years from the date of result declaration.
• Lectureship (LS): There is no validity limit for the Assistant Professor qualification.

Candidates will require their application number and password to download the UGC NET 2024 results. The exam was administered by NTA at 558 exam centres and over 6 lakh candidates appeared for the exam.

As per to the UGC NET December 2024 marking scheme, candidates will receive two marks for each correct answer, with no negative marking for incorrect responses. Candidates can calculate their scores by adding the marks for the questions they attempted.

The final answer key for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) will be available on the official website, once released.

The NTA released the provisional answer key for the UGC NET 2024 December on January 31 and the objection facility was available till February 3. The subject experts will release the final answer key after reviewing all the objections raised by the candidates. The UGC NET 2024 results will be prepared based on the final answer key.

The UGC NET score will also be used for PhD admissions. Earlier, there were only two categories, however, now "PhD only" category has been also added. 

Category-1: Eligible for admission to PhD with JRF and for appointment as assistant professor. 

Category-2: Eligible for admission to PhD without JRF and for appointment as assistant professor. 

Category-3: Eligible for admission to PhD programme only.

Candidates who have a masters degree in professional programmes such as engineering and technology do not require UGC NET qualification for appointment as assistant professor. The rule was formed in tune with the AICTE recruitment norms. 

After the University Grants Commission (UGC) published the draft UGC faculty recruitment regulations 2025, there were a lot of confusion regarding the eligibility criteria for assistant professor posts, especially due to media reports claiming that NET score is no more need for the recruitment. However, the UGC chairman Jagadesh Kumar clarified later that it is UGC NET mandatory for assistant professor recruitment.

The number of candidates to be qualified for eligibility for assistant professor will be equal to 6% of the aspirants who appeared for both papers on the basis of their master's degree or equivalent examination, as per the UGC NET information bulletin. 

The NTA conducts the UGC NET exam in computer-based test (CBT). However, it held the June 2024 exam in pen and paper OMR format. However, due to paper leak allegations, the mode of the exam was changed again to CBT. The UGC NET December 2024 exam was conducted in CBT mode for all 85 subjects.

The official UGC NET result date for the December 2024 session has not been announced yet by the NTA. However, candidates can expect the NET results this week.

The NTA is expected to declare the UGC - National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) for the December 2024 session soon on the official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in. As per reports, the UGC NET results were expected by February 21, however, it is not out yet.
