General category candidates must score at least 40% to qualify for UGC NET 2024, while the cut-off for candidates from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories is set at 35%.

Candidates who qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) will be eligible to receive a stipend, provided they secure placement in universities or Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The JRF award letter will remain valid for three years from the date of issuance.

For multi-shift papers, the National Testing Agency (NTA) uses a normalisation process to convert a candidate’s raw marks into a percentile, referred to as the NTA Score. When a subject test is held across multiple shifts, the NTA Score is determined based on the candidate's raw marks. There is no restriction on the number of attempts for the UGC NET exam. Candidates aiming to qualify for the post of assistant professor can take the exam as many times as they wish. However, to qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), candidates must be under 30 and can only attempt the exam while they meet this age limit.

The UGC NET 2024 result, as declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA), will be final. There will be no provision for revaluation of the UGC NET 2024 results.
