UGC organises workshop for academic professionals on ‘Institutional Development Plan’

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) organised a workshop for academic professionals on the topic ‘UGC Guidelines on Institutional Development Plan’. The workshop, which was in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines, aimed at providing institutions a clear roadmap to develop their vision, mission and goals for a future-ready education system.

The workshop was inaugurated by Sanjay Murthy, secretary, higher education, UGC chairman Jagadesh Kumar and NCVET chairperson NS Kalsi. More than 170 representatives from higher educational institutions across India participated in the one-day workshop that delved into the key elements and enablers of the institutional development plan.

During the workshop, case studies and best practices showcasing effective planning practices were presented, offering practical guidance to HEIs. The interactive sessions facilitated knowledge sharing and discussions, encouraging HEIs to develop effective IDP and contribute to building a more dynamic and inclusive educational landscape in India. The workshop provided a valuable platform for HEIs to gain a deeper understanding of the IDP framework and its potential to shape their trajectory.

UGC chairman emphasised the significance of Institutional Development Plan as a roadmap for growth and excellence for higher educational institutions. He highlighted how the IDP guidelines empower HEIs to take charge of their strategic development, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring they remain future-ready.

NCVET chairperson emphasised on the essential elements, enablers and strategic goals of the IDP. He appreciated the UGC Guidelines that provide crucial details of the IDP, using which the higher educational institutions can create their own, specialised plan for their growth.
