UGC to open NSP applications soon for NSPG, ISHAN UDAY scholarships; HEIs get 15-day verification deadline

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) will open the applications under the National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies (NSPG) and the ISHAN UDAY Special Scholarship Scheme for the North Eastern Region soon.

According to the notice, the UGC will release a separate detailed schedule for the online submission of the scholarship applications. The scholarship will be done through the NSP.

The official notice reads, "The NSP will be opened shortly for submission and processing of applications under the above-mentioned scholarship schemes. The schedule for online submission of applications will be notified separately."

15 day deadline for verification to HEIs

The UGC has instructed all the Institutional Nodal Officers (INOs) across HEIs to verify, approve, mark defects and reject applications for scholarships within 15 days after receiving the applications on the NSP. This will provide enough time to students to correct any deficiencies or errors in their applications before the closing of the portal.

The notice further reads, “HEIs are also requested to provide necessary support and guidance to eligible students during the application process and facilitate timely resolution of issues, if any, on the National Scholarship Portal.”

About NSPG and ISHAN UDAY Scholarship

NSPG scholarship helps students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies and ISHAN UDAY Special Scholarship Scheme helps students who are from the North Eastern Region. These both schemes are being implemented by the UGC through NSP.
