NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) vice-chancellor professor Sudhir Kumar Jain said that the Union Budget 2023 will help realize the objectives defined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The new education policy lays a greater focus on skilling the youth of the country and linking education with industry and professional spheres, so as to enable students to be ready for future challenges and opportunities. The budget 2023 announcements have come as a boost to materialize these ideas, said Professor Jain. Hailing the increase in the allocation for the education sector, the BHU VC said that the move will give a further impetus to quality research and education.

Jain further said, “The world is rapidly changing and so are the expectations and requirements of the industry and the society. We must have transformational initiatives in the education sector that meet these expectations. I am happy to note these measures being announced in the budget”.

The professor also lauded the announcement of setting up of the National Digital Library for children and adolescents to facilitate availability of quality books across geographies. This is going to be a game-changer as availability of quality content for a large population continues to be a challenge before institutions and educational organizations, he added.

In her union budget 2023 speech, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the launch of new-age courses for industry 4.0 like coding, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, mechatronics, drones, 3D printing and soft skills. The minister said that 30 Skill India International Centres will be set up across states.
