UK’s University of Aberdeen gets UGC approval for Mumbai campus; offers UG data science, MBA courses

University of Aberdeen's Mumbai campus is offering UG programmes in business management, computing science, data science, alongside PG courses in AI and MBA.

The United Kingdom’s University of Aberdeen has received approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish its campus in Mumbai. The university will also commence its admission process from September 2026.

Eligible candidates can apply for various UG and PG courses for the September 2026 intake at abdn.ac.uk.

The University of Aberdeen’s Mumbai campus will offer students access to internationally recognised Scottish education while fostering the critical thinking, analytical and leadership skills required to succeed in a rapidly changing global economy.

Peter Edwards, principal and vice-chancellor, University of Aberdeen, said: “Receiving the Letter of Approval from the University Grants Commission marks a significant milestone in the University of Aberdeen's journey to establish our Mumbai campus. We are delighted to bring our globally recognised, research-led education to one of the world's most dynamic student communities.”

“As we prepare to welcome our inaugural cohort, our goal is to provide an educational experience rooted in academic excellence, global perspectives and industry engagement, equipping graduates with the knowledge, critical thinking and adaptability to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world while strengthening the long-standing academic partnership between the UK and India,” Edwards said.

The foreign university will offer undergraduate (UG) programmes in business management, computing science, data science, alongside postgraduate (PG) courses in artificial intelligence and Master of Business Administration (MBA).

The programmes are designed to combine academic rigour with experiential learning, research-led teaching and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Students at the Mumbai campus will have access to a global academic community and opportunities to develop the practical, analytical and leadership capabilities sought by employers worldwide.

The University's distinctive approach to education places a strong emphasis on independent thinking, problem-solving and preparing graduates to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven and interconnected world, the statement read.
