University of Birmingham's largest academic delegation visits India
This visit follows the recent launch of a new joint masters programme in sustainable energy systems between the University of Birmingham and IIT Madras.

NEW DELHI: Chancellor Lord Karan Bilimoria of Chelsea led the University of Birmingham's largest-ever academic delegation to India. During the visit, Lord Bilimoria met key partners, including Hindustan Petroleum Company Limited's (HPCL) Green R&D Centre (HPGRDC) in Bengaluru. This visit followed the University of Birmingham and HPCL's partnership launched in February to develop a cutting-edge hydrogen dispensing system aimed at revolutionizing India's transport sector.
Lord Bilimoria also met leaders at the Government of India's public policy think tank NITI Aayog to discuss the University's engagements in India. Additionally, he addressed students at Atlas Skilltech University in Mumbai, delivering a talk on entrepreneurship, drawing from his own business experience.
This visit follows the recent launch of a new Joint Masters program in Sustainable Energy Systems between the University of Birmingham and IIT Madras. This builds on last year's launch of their first Joint Masters program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
"Leading the University of Birmingham delegation to India in May, which covered Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, and Pune, I was accompanied by 20 academics as well as the provost of the University of Birmingham Dubai," commented Lord Bilimoria. "This was a great opportunity to meet some of our key research and education partners and hundreds of bright minds considering joining the University of Birmingham."

Leading academics met offer holders in Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Pune, providing insights into their future studies and career opportunities post-graduation.
The University of Birmingham, targeted by the UK's leading graduate employers according to 'The Graduate Market in 2024' by High Fliers, recently launched new scholarships for Indian students worth over £1 million. Students at the Dubai campus can receive up to 40% scholarships.
The University of Birmingham ranks 35th globally in THE Most International Universities in the World, reflecting its high proportion of international students and staff collaborating on international research with a strong global reputation.
