University of Western Australia opens campus in Mumbai; offers UG, PG courses

University of Western Australia (UWA) has launched a campus in Mumbai, marking a milestone between Western Australia and Maharashtra. UWA Mumbai campus will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across business, technology and STEM fields, equipping students with skills aligned to India's growing economy and global industry demands.

The campus was launched by MLA and Western Australia's Premier Roger Cook and chief minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, alongside UWA leadership.

According to the press release, UWA has committed around AUD 80 million to establish and operate its wholly owned campuses in India. The Mumbai campus is the first of two UWA campuses in India, with the Chennai campus scheduled to open in October 2026.

Located in Andheri East, the new campus will welcome its first cohort this month, giving students the opportunity to pursue a globally recognised UWA qualification while building their careers in India.

UWA Mumbai: Courses offered

UWA Mumbai will offer programmes in various fields such as computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, cyber security, information technology, business management and an MBA, with the MBA commencing in November 2026.

The 12-month accelerated MBA course will develop students’ capabilities across strategy, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, data-driven decision-making and international management.

Across its courses, UWA India will combine academic rigour with industry-relevant learning, practical experience and global perspectives. The campus features modern, technology-enabled classrooms, project and innovation spaces, group-work areas, student hubs and collaboration facilities.

Notably, students will also have opportunities for industry engagement through projects, internships, mentoring and networking, supported by career coaching and employer engagement.

UWA's Mumbai campus is a tangible expression of that relationship, bringing the expertise and global outlook of a Western Australian university to Maharashtra while creating new opportunities for students, businesses and institutions in both India and Western Australia.”
