UNSW Sydney opens Bengaluru campus; ranked among top 20 in QS World University Rankings 2027

The University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney, Australia, has officially launched its first international campus in India and will begin the academic year 2026-27 in August, marking a milestone in the growing India and Australia education partnership. The newly launched university is in the top 20 list of QS World University Rankings 2027.

According to the UNSW Sydney statement, it brings its internationally recognised education, research excellence and industry-connected learning experience to India. The launch of the UNSW Bengaluru campus reflects the commitment to strengthen the Australia-India education partnership.

The vice-chancellor and president of UNSW Sydney Attila Brungs said: “The opening of our Bengaluru campus reflects both our confidence in India’s extraordinary talent ecosystem and our long-term commitment to strengthening the Australia-India education partnership through our ‘Progress for All’ strategy.”

UNSW Sydney Admissions 2026

The UNSW Sydney campus is located at Manyata Business Park. The university will offer students access to an internationally recognised UNSW education in India’s technology and innovation ecosystems. By combining Australian academic excellence, the university aims to create opportunities for interdisciplinary learning, applied research and industry engagement.

The Bengaluru campus will focus on areas aligned with the NEP 2020, skills and future workforce demand while addressing global research priorities – including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital technologies, advanced manufacturing and sustainability.

“By bringing together universities, government and industry, UNSW aims to accelerate knowledge exchange and contribute to solutions that address shared economic and societal priorities,” the press release adds.

Students will benefit from an education model that combines academics with industry engagement, and prepares them for strong graduate outcomes. Beyond academics, the campus is expected to serve as a platform for collaboration between Australia and India across research, innovation and enterprise.
