NEW DELHI: In a significant academic development, Phanithi Prakash Babu, a senior professor from the Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics at the University of Hyderabad, has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Pondicherry University.
His appointment as the VC of Pondicherry University will be for a period of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
"In exercise of powers conferred under Statute 1 (A) of the Pondicherry University Act, 1985, the Hon'ble President of India in her capacity as Visitor of Pondicherry University has been pleased to appoint Prof. Phanithi Prakash Babu, Senior Professor, Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, University of Hyderabad as the Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, for a period of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier", the official notice read.
As vice-chancellor, Babu will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the university, overseeing its academic policies, research initiatives, and ensuring overall administrative excellence.
