UP Rain News: Holiday in all schools in Barabanki extended

Barabanki: The UP government has extended the closure of all schools today amid heavy rainfall alerts by the Indian Meteorological Department.
NEW DELHI: Schools in Barabanki, district of Uttar Pradesh, remain closed today amid heavy rainfall and waterlogging. The Uttar Pradesh government has extended the school holiday in all the government, non-government, aided, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), and private schools from pre-primary to Class 12 in both rural and urban areas.
Given the safety of the students, and staff, the Barabanki district administration has ordered the closing of all the urban and rural boards of the district after the red alert was issued by the meteorological department for September 13.

An official statement from the UP government read, “In view of the rain and water logging situation, tomorrow 13th September has been declared a holiday in schools from pre-primary to class 12, teaching work will remain closed as per the orders of DM."

The government has also cautioned the residents to stay indoors due to the risk of severe lightning and heavy rainfall. With heavy rain expected until September 13, the Meteorological Department issued a red alert in Barabanki. Localities in the district have been flooded with rain water and have caused water logging in many places.

The district magistrate of Barabanki Avinash Kumar issued a closure notice for September 13 to all the school heads, principals along with the director general of school education, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow; chief development officer, Barabanki; director of education UP, joint director of education Ayodhya Board; district science information officer, Barabanki, and the basic education officer, Barabanki.
