Uttar Pradesh schools, colleges and other educational institutions to remain shut on September 17 and 18 due to heavy rains, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said.

NEW DELHI: Due to heavy rains in the state, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has issued an order to close schools, colleges and all educational institutions for two days- September 17 and 18.
The chief minister said, “It is raining heavily in the state at present. Incidents like waterlogging, breaking of trees etc. have also been reported at many places. All educational institutions have been closed for two days. Relief and rescue operations are being conducted by the UP government. You all be careful. Take care of children, elders and yourself.”

However, the Uttar Pradesh board has announced that the UP Board improvement exams 2021 for Classes 10, 12 will be held from September 18 at the chosen exam centres. Several parts of Uttar Pradesh have been witnessing heavy rains since Thursday.
In a tweet, the India Meteorological Department said, “Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy and extremely heavy falls very likely over Uttar Pradesh today, the 16th September, scattered rainfall with isolated heavy falls on 17th September and decrease thereafter...”

IMD has been warning of light to moderate intensity intermittent rain in adjoining areas of Jahangirabad, Anupshahar, Shikarpur, Pahasu, Debai, Narora, Atrauli, Khair, Aligarh, Raya, Mathura, Tundla, Agra (UP) during the next 2 hours.
The weather also issued an orange alert for Delhi, warning of heavy rainfall in the national capital.
