UPES Dehradun to offer upto 100% merit-based scholarship; 50% reserved for girls

NEW DELHI: The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) Dehradun has announced to give upto 100% scholarships based on merit. The scholarship will be applicable on all students appearing for UPES entrance exams. The university will offer around 2000 scholarships for the academic year 2022-23 out of which above 50% is reserved for girl students.

The scholarship will be awarded in the range of 20% to 100% on tuition fees to the top 10% students who will score the highest in UPES entrance exams. The scholarship will be renewed in the subsequent semesters upon meeting the eligibility requirements.
Besides the merit scholarship, UPES is also offering additional domicile scholarship of 33% to all the students who are residents of Uttarakhand.

“This is the third year of UPES girl scholarships under its ‘Shakti’ initiative that aims to promote higher education amongst girls and encourage them to progress from classrooms to boardrooms. In just three years, from 2020 to 2022, UPES has offered and announced more than 5000 girl scholarships. The university received an overwhelming response from female students and their families belonging to Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand in the last two years,” said an official statement from UPES.
Eligibility Criteria for scholarships
All students who have applied for admission for UPES courses and have taken UPES entrance exams will be eligible. However, this Scholarship shall be awarded only to those students who have complied with below defined Scholarship Criteria for first semester and subsequent renewal, if applicable.

Scholarship will be awarded upto 10% top performers of UPES Entrance Exam. UPES reserves the right to conduct multiple rounds of entrance examination and the merit list of each round will be prepared separately. However, it is UPES sole discretion, to decide consideration of next in line of top 10 for said Scholarship, in case top performer does not accept the scholarship for any reason.
Who will get the scholarship
Scholarship will be awarded in range from 20% to 100% on tuition fees of 1st semester only. The university has set a renewal criteria for scholarships to other semesters which includes 8.5 CGPA, passing semester without improvement exams, 75% attendance etc.
