According to the schedule, the UPSC CSE 2026 prelims exam will be held on May 24 at 83 centres across the country, while the main exam will be conducted on August 21 at 27 centres.
Candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university are eligible to apply for the UPSC CSE 2026 exam. Candidates who are appearing for the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply for the UPSC civil services exam.
As per the UPSC civil services age limit, the maximum age is 32 years for general and EWS candidates, 35 years for OBC candidates, and 37 years for SC and ST candidates. For candidates in the disabled category, the age limit is relaxed up to 40 years.

UPSC CSE 2026: Fees, number of attempts
To complete the UPSC CSE application form 2026, general, OBC, and EWS candidates are required to pay the application fee of Rs 100. There is no fee for SC, ST, Ex-servicemen, PwD, and female candidates.
A total of 933 vacancies are available through the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2026 recruitment for posts in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Forest Service (IFS).
For the UPSC CSE exam , General category candidates can attempt the exam six times, OBC candidates can attempt it nine times, and SC and ST candidates can attempt it until they reach their maximum age limit.
The UPSC CSE admit card will be released on the last working day of the week before the exam. Candidates who request a change of scribe at least seven days before the exam will receive their admit card three days before the UPSE CSE 2026 exam date.
