UPSC ESE application withdrawal facility is available now

NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 30: The online application withdrawal facility of UPSC ESE is available now. Candidates who have applied for UPSC ESE and wish to withdraw their applications can do so till 5.30 pm of November 5. To withdraw the application form, candidates will have to login with their registration number.
In order to avail this facility, candidates have to provide details of their application. Separate OTPs will be sent to candidate’s registered mobile number and email id. Request for the withdrawal will be accepted only after candidates confirm the OTP. The OTP will be valid for 30 minutes. The facility for withdrawal of application form is not available for incomplete applications.
If any candidate has submitted more than one application forms then the higher registration ID for the latest completed application will be considered for withdrawal.
On successful completion of withdrawal of application, confirmation message will be sent to candidates registered email ID and mobile number. Once application has been withdrawn, it cannot be revived. The fee submitted by candidates while filling the application form will not be refunded.
Earlier in a press release issued regarding the withdrawal of applications, Chairman of UPSC, Arvind Saxena said, “In UPSC Civil Services examination roughly 50% out of 10 lakh candidates who have filled the application forms for the preliminary exam actually wrote the examination. The Commission had to book venues, print papers, hire invigilators and ship the documents for all the 10 lakh applicants – which turned out to be a 50% waste of energy and resources.”
“UPSC’s view is that if we are able to work with genuine and serious candidates, we can give them better facilities and make our system more efficient. A start is being made with the UPSC ESE 2019 and more examinations will be brought under this arrangement,” the Chairman added.
UPSC ESE 2019 examination is being conducted to fill as many as 581 vacancies in various government departments - Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication engineering. The selection process comprises, Preliminary, Mains and Interview. The preliminary examination of UPSC ESE is scheduled to be conducted on January 6, 2019. While, the mains exam will be conducted on June 30, 2019. The Interview will be held in September.
