NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) successfully conducted the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Services (IES/ISS) exam 2021 today. The IES/ISS preliminary 2021 exam was conducted across designated exam centres by the UPSC. The authorities conducted the IES/ISS recruitment exam 2021 by following all the guidelines to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

UPSC IES/ISS 2021 Exam - Highlights

Candidates appeared in the exam by following COVID-19 protocols like wearing a mask, carrying hand sanitiser and maintaining social distance.

Aspirants with valid UPSC IES/ISS admit card and original government-issued photo ID were permitted to enter in the exam hall.

Candidates who qualify in the IES/ISS 2021 written exam will now be eligible to appear in the interview test.

The preliminary paper of IES/ISS had questions from subjects such as General Economics, I, II, III, Statistics, Indian Economics, General Studies.

There was negative marking in the IES/ISS question paper and 1/4th marks were deducted for every incorrect answer.
Why is the UPSC IES/ISS exam conducted?
The UPSC IES/ISS 2021 exam is being conducted to fill vacancies in Junior Time Scale of the Services. Candidates between the age group of 21 to 30 are eligible to apply for the IES/ISS exam. UPSC released a total of 26 IES/ISS vacancies to be filled under the recruitment. The last date to apply for the exam was April 27, 2021.
Apart from the IES/ISS exam, the UPSC also released the ESE (Engineering Services Examination) notification on April 7, 2021. The UPSC ESE preliminary exam was scheduled to be held on July 18, 2021, while the mains exam of UPSC ESE will be held on October 10, 2021.
