NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 17: The Uttar Pradesh Board exam schedule for 2019 has been announced by Dinesh Sharma, the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. Sharma, who is also the minister for secondary education, released the schedule offline for classes 10 and 12.

The Board exams will begin on February 7 for both class 10 and 12. However, for class 10 students, the exam will end on February 28 and that for class 12 students, it would end on March 2, 2019. While the class 10 exams will end within 14 days, class 12 exams would end within 16 days. Further, the morning shift of the exam would start at 8 am instead of the earlier 7:30 am, as many students face difficulty in reaching the examination hall so early. The first slot will end at 11:15 am.

The UP board has also kept the Kumbh Mela in mind when preparing the exam schedule for both the exams. Kumbh mela is scheduled to be held between January 15 and March 4, 2019. "The short duration of exams would not only relieve examinees of strain of a long-drawn schedule, but also help the Board save time and funds," Dinesh Sharma has been quoted as saying in the press conference.

“The exam schedule got reduced to 16 days as there will be one paper for one subject now. Introduction of NCERT pattern with one paper for English, one for Hindi, one for Mathematics and one for science paper has helped reduce the number of days,” the deputy chief minister added.
