Vel Tech CSE students create Guinness World Record

Delhi, December 15: Students of Vel Tech institute in Chennai has created a new Guinness World Record by creating the largest human image of a wheelchair accessibility symbol. The event was held on December 3 on the occasion of International Day for People with Disability for creating awareness among the non disabled persons in society about the actual potential of disabled people that often go unnoticed. A group of 1550 students from Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology formed the world’s largest human image and showed society that disabled persons are the vibrant members of society and their dignity and rights has to be equally taken care of.

The theme song of the event was written by Madhan Karky, composed by A.R. Raihana and was sung by Bhavatharani and Aravind. It sought to spread awareness in society that disabled persons are very much like other members and that they should not be seen with any form of pity or inferiority.

The event was attended by many eminent personalities like VGP Group Chairman Dr V.G. Santhosam and Founder Chancellor & President of  Vel Tech Col. Prof. Dr. Vel. R. Rangarajan, Foundress President Dr. Sangunthala Rangarajan and Vice Chancellor Dr. V. Ramachandran.
