VGU conducts first Startup20x, curriculum conclave;' honored outstanding students

NEW DELHI: Vivekananda Global University (VGU conducted a two-day Curriculum Conclave ‘Saaransh.’ Experts from across the country discussed the NEP, the difficulties in implementing it, and creating a curriculum inline with NEP's objectives in the two days of the conclave.

The entire conclave was split into seven sessions, each of which focused on one or more core NEP areas. These sessions included developing a start-up culture in the university, promoting multidisciplinary core and open elective courses, ensuring quality teaching pedagogy, fine-tuning academic regulations and implementing e-governance, balancing extracurricular and curricular activities, evaluation reforms, industry-led courses, and MOOCs.

Dr Shakeela Shamsu, a former OSD for the NEP at the department of higher education of the government of India, suggested that because the NEP was aspirational in character, there would be some early implementation issues.

“Institutions will gradually understand the ABC...there is a lot of flexibility in the NEP...we need to sensitize the students... the structure of the program must be clear in the mind of the teachers,’’ she remarked.

In another ceremony conducted at the Maharana Pratap Auditorium on its campus, Vivekananda Global University honored students who secured 70% or more marks in their Class 12 grade in the year 2023. More than 1000 students participated in the 'Achievers Premier League' and all of them were awarded 'Appreciation Certificates and Gold Medals'.

Additionally, students who have excelled in a variety of sectors, including in entrepreneurship, art, music, sports, fashion, dance, and design, were also supported in this programme. The top 20 students who have excelled academically and in other areas also received monetary awards from VGU of Rs. 5000 each for their overall development.

Meanwhile, the AIM Rajasthan Network (AIC Banasthali, Catalyst AIC, AIC JKLU, AIC MUJ, and ACIC VGU) organized the first Startup20x event in the state, Startup20x Jaipur - Rajasthan Startup20 Sabha- at the Vivekananda Global University. The event included insightful speeches from some of the state of Rajasthan's early entrepreneurs as well as a roundtable discussion with important stakeholders. Many prominent figures attended the event. Eminent entrepreneurAmit Jain, Mr. Mahavir Pratap Sharma, Ankita Sharma and others spoke at the event. Dharamveer Singh Chouhan, Co-founder & CEO of Zostel and Zo World, was also among the participants.
