NEW DELHI: Yogesh Kumar, a student at Vivekananda Global University (VGU), Jaipur wins bronze medal as a part of a mixed team at the 'Khelo India Youth Games'.
The fifth edition of the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) was held in Madhya Pradesh from January 30 to February 11, 2023. Due to postponement of the fourth edition of the event, the KYIG 2022 event was conducted this year. The shooting event at KIYG 2022 was conducted from February 1 to 6, 2023 for which the sports authority of India (SAI) selected 5 out of the top 16 players from across India for a 10-meter air pistol match.

Yogesh Sharma has previously won three medals at the All-India GV Mavalankar Shoot in Kerala and created a national record for 10-meter air pistol rifle singles at the 65th National Shooting Championship.
KIYG 2022 is an annual event that invites young athletes to compete in sports including archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, fencing, football, gymnastics, hockey, kabaddi, shooting, swimming, tennis, weightlifting, wrestling, among others. This year the hosting state, Madhya Pradesh has the largest contingent of 474 athletes.
Over 5,000 athletes from 36 states and union territories competed for 1,963 medals in 27 sports. Any student under the age of 21 and is a resident of India is eligible to apply for the event.
