Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar to address IIT Guwahati's 25th Convocation

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will host its 25th Convocation on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, will address the convocation as the Chief Guest. Around 1,900 students will be graduating this year.

The Vice President will be accompanied by Gulab Chand Kataria, the Governor of Assam, and Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam in the IIT Guwahati 25th convocation.

This year the IIT Guwahati will celebrate its silver jubilee of the convocation, signifying developments made in the fields of science, technology, knowledge, and research.The inaugural convocation of IIT Guwahati took place in 1999. In the first convocation, 63 students received their degrees. More than 20,000 students have graduated from IIT Guwahati over the past 25 years.

IIT Guwahati was established in 1994 and completed 25 years in 2019. This year the IIT Guwahati will celebrate its silver jubilee of the convocation, signifying developments made in the fields of science, technology, knowledge, and research. IIT Guwahati offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate programmes.

IIT Guwahati attained seventh position among the best engineering institutions in the country and 9th position in both the ‘Overall’ and ‘Research’ categories in the ‘India Rankings 2023’ by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
