VJIM Hyderabad launches PGDM course in agribusiness management for working professionals

The Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM), Hyderabad has launched a Postgraduate Diploma Management (PGDM) programme in agribusiness management. The AICTE-approved PGDM course is designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

The agribusiness management programme is open for working professionals to make them capable of leading the next phase of agricultural growth, according to an official statement.

It also equips students with practical skills and real-world perspectives. The PGDM programme aims to develop professionals capable of driving innovation, improving productivity and creating sustainable value across the agribusiness ecosystem, the statement read.

PGDM in Agribusiness Management: Curriculum, pedagogy

The programme consists of industry immersions, field visits, live consulting projects, internships, interactions with business leaders, practitioners and progressive farmers.

Throwing light upon the career growth for agribusiness programmes, Bharat Bhushan Singh, director, VJIM, said: "Forty-three percent of India's geographical land is available for cultivation. We are producing record quantities of grains, and the horticulture sector is equally thriving. The challenge, however, is that storage and talent gaps continue to persist. If we have enough agribusiness managers who can take care of supply chain management, distribution, branding, and marketing, the income of farmers will increase.”

“Our PGDM in Agribusiness Management has been designed in close consultation with industry stakeholders to ensure students graduate with the knowledge, practical exposure, and leadership capabilities required to address farmers' challenges and seize emerging opportunities across the agribusiness value chain. From precision farming and smart farming to smart warehousing, the opportunities are enormous,” Singh added.

The programme is built around industry immersion, innovation, sustainability and leadership. It will equip students with the knowledge and practical experience required to drive meaningful impact across the evolving agribusiness ecosystem.

Several agribusiness organisations such as Bayer, Coromandel International, SeedWorks, Nuziveedu Seeds, Rallis India (A Tata Enterprise), among others, will provide students with valuable opportunities for industry exposure, internships, live projects, mentorship, and career placements across the agribusiness value chain.
