On June 17, the Calcutta High Court ordered an interim stay on the West Bengal government’s decision regarding reservations under 140 subsections of the OBC-A and OBC-B categories.
"A division bench comprising Justices Tapabrata Chakraborty and Rajasekhar Mantha, in an interim order valid until July 31, directed that executive notifications issued between May 8 and June 13 concerning the Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories will not be implemented until that date," PTI reported.
The court further directed that "all consequential acts thereof will also remain stayed till July 31." This means the West Bengal admissions process, including WBJEE results and counselling, may be delayed until July 31.
Candidates have expressed disappointment over the uncertainty surrounding the result date, with several wondering whether the WBJEE 2025 results will be declared on or after July 31.
On May 15, the WBJEEB chairperson Sonali Chakraborty said that the WBJEE results 'maybe delayed' due to the ongoing legal cases on OBC quota.
