Jharkhand, UP, Bihar schools closed 2025 due to cold-weather conditions; winter vacation dates

School Holidays 2025: The weather across many cities has seen a dip in temperature therefore, district magistrates have announced winter vacations up to Class 12.
Due to the prevailing cold wave conditions several states districts have announced holiday for all schools. The list of states including Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Bihar have announced suspension of all academic activities until further notice.
According to several media reports, due to severe cold waves Punjab has started its winter vacations from December 22 to January 10 (tentative). The Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath warned that any lapse in security and safety will not be tolerated. Additionally, Noida’s district magistrate has announced school holidays frDecember 29 to January 1, to ensure student safety first.
Jharkhand school closure
Classes for students from kindergarten to Class 12 in all government and private schools across Ranchi district have been suspended from December 27 to December 31 in view of the ongoing cold wave, an official announced on Friday.
Himachal Pradesh school closed
The Una district magistrate has temporarily changed the operational timings of all educational institutions and Anganwadi center. As per the PTI reports, all government and private educational institutions in the district will operate from 10 am to 3.30 pm while all the Anganwadi centres will function from 10 am to 3 pm from December 29 to January 31.
UP school holiday today
In view of the cold wave and dense fog in district Lucknow and the forecast of the meteorological department, all council/primary and upper primary schools/aided schools/schools recognized by all boards and Kasturba Gandhi residential girls' schools and government/non-government aided schools operating from pre-primary to class-12 will remain closed from December 29 to January 1. All schools will strictly comply with the said order.
Bihar winter vacation
Intense cold wave conditions and falling temperatures have disrupted daily life across Bihar, prompting several district administrations to close educational institutions. In the state capital, Patna district magistrate Tyagarajan SM has ordered all government and private schools up to Class 8 to remain closed until December 30. Authorities have allowed classes for Class 9 and above to operate only during the revised hours from 10 am to 3:30 pm.
Furthermore, the Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan Ajmer (RBSE) has announced winter holidays in Rajasthan for all government and private schools in the state from December 25 to January 5.
