Woxsen University marks 6th convocation with 1,198 graduates, honours Roy F Baumeister

Woxsen University held its sixth convocation, where it awarded 1,198 conferred degrees to graduating students from its seven different schools. These schools include the school of business, technology, arts and design, architecture and planning, science, law, and liberal arts and humanities.

Roy F Baumeister, social psychologist and professor Emeritus at the University of Queensland, was the chief guest at the ceremony. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate to recognise his contributions to psychology and human behaviour.

Baumeister said, “Use AI but build your curiosity and articulate the wonders of the world,” he said, adding that adaptability would be essential as “the pace of change in the world has increased remarkably.” Encouraging graduates to think beyond the present, he advised them to always have a five-year plan. “You can change the plan, but having a plan helps you orient towards a bigger future rather than living day-to-day”.

Woxsen University: 655 publications, more BArch seats

During the convocation, Woxsen University also released its annual report 2026, presented by the vice-chancellor, VJ Byra Reddy, vice chancellor. The report highlighted the university's progress in research, innovation, and global engagement, with over 655 research publications, 70% of which were published in Q1 and Q2 journals, and collaborations with more than 190 universities worldwide. The event also highlighted an increase in BArch seats from 40 to 80, the introduction of a B.Sc. in sports science, and the launch of courses like MTech in artificial intelligence and machine learning and MDes in product design innovation.

The convocation also honoured this year's gold medallists, batch toppers, and students who received the highest placement offers at Woxsen University . Anthati Shivani topped the MBA business analytics programme, while Korimi Meghana received the B.Tech gold medal. Koukuntla Rishitha Reddy was awarded the gold medal in BBA financial services and also secured the highest placement with Warner Brothers Discovery.

Shreyasi Sar topped the BCom programme, while Kurinji V. S. won the gold medal in Fashion Design M Janani emerged as the topper in architecture, Sofia Villamarin Rodriguez led the Liberal Arts and Humanities batch, and Archi Tiwari topped the Science programme.

Among other students to secure covetable jobs, Sarah Hazel Philip from the MBA programme secured the highest offer from Silicon Labs, while B Tech graduate Gaddam Srikesh Reddy received the top offer from Vivnovation. Pakeeru Sri Varsha from Interior Design was placed at Yula Construction, and architecture graduates P Keerthi and KB Shivani secured placement offers from APS Property Solutions.
