300 women scientists to get research grants under CSIR-ASPIRE Scheme: Union Minister Jitendra Singh

NEW DELHI: Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh announced on June 14 that 300 women scientists were set to receive research grants for three years under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-A Scheme for Promotion and Innovation, Rural Industries, and Entrepreneurship (CSIR-ASPIRE) scheme.

Chairing a review meeting of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Jitendra Singh highlighted that innovations in science and technology should aim to empower citizens in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to promote ease of living.

Jitendra Singh noted that around 3,000 proposals were received under the CSIR-ASPIRE scheme, showcasing the government's efforts to support women scientists. After screening and independent review, area-wise research committees recommended a total of 301 research proposals for support.

The minister also directed DSIR to continue and scale up the Seaweed Mission along with its commercial cultivation to promote a sustainable green economy.
