8500 Runners take pledge to promote Culture of Sportsmanship

NEW DELHI, APRIL 7: Over 8500 runners particpated in the My Country Run(MCR)-Edition 3 organized by Jain University. The event witnessed 'SEA OF HUMANITY' where runners pledged their support to the cause behind organizing My Country Run, i.e. ‘To promote the culture of Sportsmanship, Health and Fitness in the Country’.

The three categories of run were Elite 10K, Open 10K and Cool 5K.

1500 runners from Armed forces along with families, school and college youth, corporates, specially challenged individuals and senior citizens took part in the run across the three categories to reinforce the message, ‘Healthy and Fit Citizens will march India towadrs Growth and Development’.

The Elite 10K and Open 10K was flagged off by Air Vice Marshal Kshirsagar along with Dr. Chenraj Roychand whereas the Cool 5K was flagged off by Major General N S Rajpurohit.

"Extremely proud of the Bengaluru Crowd who have turned up in thousands of numbers in the early morning for the run and this shows that our Nation is for sure going to be fit and healthy," said Major General N S Rajpurohit, VSM, DCCI, ASC College and Centre, Bangalore.

Air Vice Marshal Kshirsagar, SMSO, Head Qaurter, Training Command, Bangalore said, "Glad to know that Jain University has taken up such a great initiative to support the cause of sports. Congratulate the organizers for seamless execution of the event."

The Fit-Dit Team headed by Ms. Shilpa showcased their Zumba fitness regime, Mr. Sanam Singh Khokkar and team showcased their talent through dance performances, DJ Arjun, RJ Shayaan and MC Jatin Khandelwal mesmerized the crowd with their performances.

"We always believe and practice the philosophy of healthy mind and fit body, is essential for success. Sports in our country needs a big boost and My Country Run is an initiative to bring out the best sporting talents in our Country," said Dr. Chenraj Roychand, President, Jain University.

The Guests of Honor for the event were, Major General N S Rajpurohit- VSM, DCCI, ASC College and Centre, Bangalore; Air Vice Marshal Kshirsagar- SMSO, Head Qaurter, Training Command, Bangalore; Dr. Chenraj Roychand-President, Jain University; O Rajendran- Assistant Commander, CISF; Deepak Singh- Deputy Commander, Administration, BSF; RJ Shaayan Bhattacharya and Vinayak Joshi-Actor.

Dr. Sundararajan, Vice Chancellor, Jain University said, "We are delighted by the overwhelming response to MCR, that in turn gives us the motivation to take MCR to other parts of the Country too. My hearty congratulations to all the winners and participants."
