The selection process was conducted in May-June 2023. DU received a total of 7,000 applications for the summer internship. The selection of interns was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, a multiple-choice questions (MCQ) based test was conducted for the preliminary screening of applicants in which 605 were shortlisted. The second phase included Group Discussion (GD). Finally, 100 students were selected based on their additive score of SGPA, MCQ test scores and GD points. Of the 100 selected candidates, 96 students interned in 30 branches of DU.

While addressing the event, DU VC asked students to give suggestions on the ways of teaching and learning in the form of feedback. He said that students must have come up with ideas during their training period which is one of the objectives of the scheme. The internship scheme was launched for the first time in the university in the last academic session.

Last year, 113 students of the university including 108 UG interns and 5 PG interns were selected for the part-time internship and 106 interns joined the internship in 27 departments. The duration of the part-time internship was six months starting from December 23 to June 30.
