NEW DELHI: While Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2022 postponement news left several students elated, it sparked disappointment amongst medical aspirants who are now urging the National Testing Agency (NTA) to postpone National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2022 as well to August. The medical entrance test for admission to MBBS, BDS, etc. is scheduled to be held on July 17.

NTA has rescheduled the JEE Main 2022 session 1 and session 2 exam dates again. The JEE Main 2022 session 1 will now be held between June 20 to 29, 2022. Whereas, JEE Main 2022 session 2 exams will be held from July 21 to 30, 2022.

Soon after the NTA announced postponement of JEE Main 2022 exam dates, NEET UG aspirants started demanding postponement of their exams on Twitter. They cited less gap between board exams and NEET exam, delayed counselling of NEET 2021, clashing of several entrance tests as reasons to postpone NEET 2022. Some students also demanded 2 sessions for NEET just like JEE.

A Twitter user said, “Is NTA dumb they are giving extension to jee candidates despite of having multiple attempts whereas NEET ug aspirants get only one. Also between boards and neet there is a gap of only 1 month. This can't be justified. There must be an extension of 1 month.”

Listing down reasons to postpone NEET UG 2022, an aspirant tweeted, “Reason to #postponeneetug2022 1. To reduce pressure on freshers In June(boards vs mains) In july(neet vs jee) 2. Counselling is delayed droppers will be affected 3. To bring back normal academic year 2 months reduction is injustice”

A student said in a tweet, “if they can conduct neet and jee 2nd session in same month then why can't neet and jee adv be conducted in August.we need postpone. Don't shatter dreams of students.”

“Neet ug 2022 should be held only after 2nd attempt of jee main i.e. 1st week of august This really injustice as we are getting only one chance and our counseling also delayed,” another aspirant tweeted.

A student tweeted, “I just Want to Remind That We are the one who suffered Both class 11 and Class 12 and are popularly called COVID Batch. Why are you all making us suffer more? What's our fault? We want to History to Repeat again! As in 2020 and 2021!”

Another Twitter user said, “Sat for counselling till the mop up round but didnt get a seat. This happened with so many droppers. Now as soon as this gets over they announce the exam which is just 100 days later! Is this a joke? Was it our fault that the counselling happened till so late?”
