The BCI will allow 3-year and 5-year LLB students who have enrolled as advocates to appear in the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) as many times as they want. The council clarified that the right to practice will only be for two years under a provisional enrolment.
Candidates may apply to appear in the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) only after enrolling as advocates under Section 24 of the Advocates Act, 1961, the Bar Council of India (BCI) said. The AIBE is a post-enrolment exam “where persons are initially said to be provisionally enrolled on an undertaking that they will pass the AIBE exam within 2 years of said enrolment”.
Only 3-year or 5-year LLB students who have passed out of BCI recognised universities or approved law colleges will be eligible to apply for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE 19).
