AICTE, Jio Institute to organise 5-day faculty development programme in AI, data science

NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has entered into a partnership with Jio Institute for a faculty development programme on artificial intelligence (AI) and data science.

Jio Institute will host the five-day residential faculty development programme that will start on August 21. The programme is being carried out under the ambit of AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) programme that aims to upskill and reskill faculty members of AICTE-approved institutions.

AICTE Chairman TG Sitharam will inaugurate the programme. The initiative will provide training to 40 AICTE members in AI and data science, and deliberate on the ethical considerations of utilising AI tools for immersive learning.

AICTE said the objective of the programme is to equip participants for establishing effective teaching and learning environments in a diverse range of topics, including data visualisation, natural language processing, time series and optimisation, applications, generative AI, and large language models. The curriculum will delve into the far-reaching impacts of AI and data sciences across various sectors, the AICTE added.

Sitharaman said, "This partnership with Jio Institute exemplifies our commitment to nurturing cutting edge education that equips our Faculty members for future challenges. It enables us to provide educators with the necessary skills to navigate intricate educational landscapes, thereby emphasising our resolve towards academic excellence."

Additionally, the programme will explore emerging opportunities within the technological landscape. The programme will be delivered by G Ravichandran, Ravee Chittoor, and Nilay Yajnik, all from Jio Institute, and other academic leader in field from IIM Bangalore, Northwestern University, USA, IBM, and others.
