AICTE launches model curriculum framework for BBA programme

NEW DELHI: The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) launched the model curriculum framework for Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programmes. This framework includes BBA, BBA Honors, and BBA Honors with research programmes.
The curriculum of this programme is developed by a committee led by Anu Singh Lather, vice chancellor of Ambedkar University, Delhi. The committee included academic professionals and industry experts.
The programme will be offered in two different time durations including a three-year programme spanning six semesters and a four-year programme spanning eight semesters. The three-year programme will have 120 credits, while the four-year programme comprises 160 credits. According to AICTE, the course structure is aligned with the National Education Policy.
The curriculum integrates fundamental management principles with global best practices. The curriculum also includes a mandatory three-week induction programme to improve students' communication skills and prepare them for current and future industry demands.
The curriculum includes the Indian knowledge system (IKS), human behaviour and organization, the Indian constitution, industrial visits, workshops, and mandatory internships. Upon completion of the programmes, students will receive a BBA degree for the three-year programme and a BBA Honors or BBA Honors with a research degree for the four-year programme.
Initiatives by AICTE
This year, AICTE expanded its purview to include BBA, Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), and Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) courses. They are actively developing a curriculum for these programmes. Around 4200 institutions have received approval from AICTE so far.
AICTE also launched a new scholarship for female students enrolled in BBA programmes at AICTE-approved institutions. They have also begun a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for faculty members of these institutions.
During an interaction with Careers360, AICTE member secretary Rajive Kumar highlighted the LSI, logistics, and advanced communication technology. a. He discussed the initiatives aimed at enhancing students' employability and encouraging them to pursue Master of Technology (MTech) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) courses.
