MHT CET PCM re-test 2025 on May 5 for 27,837 candidates after 21 maths questions go wrong

NEW DELHI: After nearly half of the mathematics section was found to be incorrect, the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, has announced that it will hold a re-exam for the MHT CET PCM group on May 5. The decision to conduct the re-test was taken by the Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Chandrakant Patil, after several students reported errors in the mathematics section of the English-medium question paper.

This year, the MHT-CET PCM 2025 exam was conducted in 197 examination centers across 15 sessions between April 19 and April 27. A total of 4,64,263 students registered for the exam, out of which 4,25,548 candidates appeared. Of these, 27,837 candidates appeared for the exam in English, Marathi, and Urdu mediums during the morning session on April 27.

On the last day of the exam, several students from the morning shift reported errors in the mathematics section. Taking immediate cognizance of the complaints, the Minister informed reporters that a re-exam would be conducted. Upon verification of the question paper by experts, the State CET Cell found technical errors in 21 questions.

In consideration of the students' academic interests, it has been decided to conduct the MHT CET PCM 2025 re-exam for 27,837 candidates on May 5.

Addressing concerns about the power outage in Kurla, the Minister stated: “We conduct several tests. In such a large exercise, these incidents are incidental. But no exam was compromised.”

“After receiving complaints about incorrect questions, we summoned the paper setters and asked them to verify the 21 problematic questions,” he added. Notably, all 21 errors were found in the mathematics section, which consists of 50 questions in total. The MHT CET PCM carries a total of 150 marks.

“We will issue notices to the paper setters and blacklist them,” he added.
