NEW DELHI, JUNE 18: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi has released the AIIMS MBBS result in online mode as per schedule on June 18, 2018. Eliza Bansal from Lehragaga in Punjab has topped the exam, scoring 100 percentile in Biology, 99.9404672 in Chemistry, 100 in Physics and 97.8752192 in General Knowledge, to finish with an overall percentile of 100.
Following the success of Kalpana Kumari who secured the top rank in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), this is the second out of India’s three medical entrances which has seen a female topper this year. This is also the second year in a row that a female candidate has topped the exam, with Gujarat’s Nishita Purohit emerging as the topper last year. Infact, the top three rankers in AIIMS this year are all girls, with another Punjab candidate Ramneek Kaur Mahal emerging as AIR 2, and Mehak Arora from Haryana securing AIR 3. Ramneek has in the process also achieved the unique distinction of securing a top 10 rank in all three medical entrances this year, after having secured AIR 10 in NEET and AIR 7 in JIPMER MBBS.
As expected, the AIIMS MBBS result was declared in the form of separate roll-number and rank-wise merit lists. Apart from this, candidates can also check their individual results by logging in through their AIIMS ID on the official website. The merit lists contain the details of all candidates who are eligible for the first round of counselling, the number being equal to four times the number of seats available in each category. As per the merit list information, a total of 2,649 candidates are now eligible for the first round counselling, with other qualified candidates being invited for subsequent rounds depending on the seats that are left vacant. AIIMS MBBS is conducted for a total of 800 seats available across nine different AIIMS Institutions located in New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, and Rishikesh, with new campuses in Guntur and Nagpur offering admissions for the first time this year. Around 3 lakh candidates are expected to have appeared in the entrance exam conducted on May 26 and May 27, 2018.

Accordingly, the normalization procedure to determine the qualifying cutoff percentile of AIIMS was based on the performance of candidates across all of these shifts. If the percentiles obtained from all four shifts are dissimilar or different, the lower of the four percentiles is considered as the eligibility cut off in a particular category for all candidates across all four shifts.

Common Toppers in AIIMS, NEET and JIPMER
Most medical aspirants consider AIIMS MBBS to be the toughest medical entrance exam when compared to NEET UG and JIPMER MBBS. NEET UG is considered as the largest medical entrance exam as it offers admission to 60,000 MBBS seats for which approximately 12 lakh students compete. JIPMER MBBS 2018, which is the smallest among the three, still saw 2 lakh competing for 200 seats available in JIPMER Puducherry and Karaikal campuses. Despite the huge gap in the number of candidates taking the exam, a lot of toppers were common among all three entrances. Here is the list of AIIMS top 10 rankers among whom some of them have also made it to the toppers list of NEET and JIPMER -
