Allahabad University academic council has decided to take admissions through CUET score.
NEW DELHI: Allahabad University (AU) has decided to offer admissions for the academic session 2024–25 in undergraduate courses through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG). The decision to offer admissions in undergraduate courses through the CUET UG was made during the academic council meeting of the university.
Earlier, in October, Allahabad University’s academic council had allowed its affiliated colleges to fill up to 50% seats through alternative means after the CUET exam system delayed admissions for months. The university was also considering having its own entrance test for the undergraduate level.
However, the Allahabad University academic council has now decided to admit on the basis of the CUET scores for the 2024-25 session. Allahabad University has decided to continue with CUET this year despite pondering holding their own test due to delays in the admission process.
"Yes, the university has decided to continue with CUET for this year," Arun Kumar Singh, deputy registrar (college development) confirmed to Careers360.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts the CUET UG had included Allahabad University in the list of 44 central universities participating in the exam published in the CUET 2024 exam bulletin.
CUET UG 2024 schedule, results
Registration for CUET UG 2024 has begun at the official website, cuetug.ntaonline.in. The deadline for applying for CUET UG 2024 is March 26, 2024. The exams themselves will be held from May 15 to 31.
The CUET result will be declared on June 30. Last year, results were declared in July. Allahabad University had opened registration after the results and the admission process was dragging on even in October with swathes of vacant seats when the academic council took the decision to admit students without CUET scores as well.
